and necessity...
In 2018, a 7-year-old Winston was starting to groan a bit after a long night's sleep. Clearly his knees and elbows needed a bit more support and comfort than they once did. He tried a number of beds, but none was good enough. So, being in the healthcare field, I did some research and set out to make a bed that was up to the task.
And we did. Winston started sleeping on one of the two custom beds I had made up by a local manufacturer. The difference was noticeable. Surely he wasn't the only ageing giant dog that needed a quality bed. And so Storven was born.
Then life got in the way. COVID hit, and the idea was put on hold. Winston, meanwhile, continued enjoying his bed. It served him well up until he crossed the bridge in late 2022.
After Winston left, I swore I couldn't go through that loss again. With him gone, I had no desire to revive Storven.
Fast forward to 2024, a handsome young Dane entered the foster system. I had the chance to have a play date with him and offered to babysit him for a week while his foster uncle went on holiday. Just babysit.
Sure enough, Koda ended up moving in a month later and that handsome young Dane is enjoying the second Storven bed.
He's a sensitive boy with sensitive skin - and came with a dry nose. He tried a few lotions and potions, but none of them really helped. Once again out of necessity, I did some research, found a supplier and started the many trials to find the right recipe.
Within a week of using the winning formula, Koda's nose went from the brown, dry, cracked snoot he came with to soggy black sniffer it should be.
